The Strategic Sourcing Manager ensures the best possible combination of money spent and value received for assigned categories of goods and services. This role involves understanding internal stakeholders' business needs and the capabilities, dynamics, and competitive factors in the associated supply markets. Using an established Category Management approach, the Strategic Sourcing Manager leads the development and execution of strategies for spending, pricing, and vendor selection to drive enhanced value and significant savings. The position is responsible for leading sourcing activities for the Professional Services Categories, with an emphasis on HR and IT Services. Nature and Scope:

  • Reports to the Director of Corporate Procurement.

  • A key member of the Corporate Procurement team, contributing to the development of process and capability across the entire Procurement function.

  • High degree of judgment and independent decision-making; moderate strategy formulation within specific categories.

  • Management responsibilities include organizing, delegating, measuring, monitoring, guiding, coaching, and evaluation.

  • Internally, interact with senior and functional management and a broad array of stakeholders across the organization.

  • Externally, interact with incumbent and potential vendors for negotiating, collaboration, providing direction and feedback, and representing the organization to the vendor community.

Experience/Skills/Education Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a sophisticated sourcing environment, with experience in Professional Services Categories emphasizing Human Resources and Technology.

  • Proven executive stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Proficiency in all stages of the sourcing life cycle, especially the negotiation of contractual agreements. Demonstrated track record in complex deal structuring, negotiations, and contracting.

  • Ability to manage large dollar, time-sensitive vendor negotiations.

  • Category Sourcing experience in a large, national organization is required; experience in a large, diverse corporation is preferred.

  • Proficient in Project Management skills.

  • Proficiency with spend analytics tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from quantitative data.

  • Familiarity and experience with the formal Category Management approach to Procurement is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an assigned spend area of goods & services within the indirect procurement area, including regional and national activities.

  • Analyze data and work with internal business partners to identify opportunities, gather functional and technical requirements, develop strategies, and business cases that support go-to-market strategies (RFx's).

  • Negotiate agreements in the assigned indirect categories, including BOMs, SOW, Ordering Document, EULA, and MSA.

  • Develop internal business partner relationships and key strategic supplier relationships, negotiating market-leading contract and commercial terms with new or existing regional and national suppliers to reduce risk and total cost of ownership across Business Units.

  • Interact with all levels of management, including senior and executive management from various businesses and suppliers.

  • Participate in quarterly reviews, monitor service levels, set and monitor reporting parameters, oversee programming needs, access and analyze travel reports, and contribute to touch base calls.

  • Collect savings data and document for accuracy based on company goals. Maintain the Procurement Savings Tracker for the travel category.

  • Use the Category Management cross-functional process to deliver Procurement strategies for each category and sub-category.

  • Communicate planning and execution with targeted stakeholders.

  • Assess strategic and tactical options and build consensus among cross-functional teams.
