Summary:
As a Defect Analysis Engineer I, you will conduct analysis of lithium ion battery (small, medium/large Cell, ESS) and BMS (Battery Management System) related accident site and failure parts investigation, internal and external failure samples. You will also conduct reproduction experiments (cell and pack level) in certain conditions. This job is responsible for identifying the clear root cause of safety issues, serving as a control tower to improve accident issues, and providing safe batteries to customers.
Responsibilities:
Organize and streamline processes/procedures
Derive the root cause through on-site verification, investigation, and ignition analysis of safety issues
Guide and train operators on the use of analysis equipment
Guide and train operators to perform analysis processing of products
Conduct a reproducibility experiment to verify the probable cause of a field issue
Cell/Module/Pack tear-down analysis and reporting
Analyze structural and design safety risks of automobile & battery (Pack to Cell) system
Analyze Risk and cause through buyback and issue adjacent cell analysis
Analyze the cause of battery failure through precision analysis equipment
Liaise between technicians and customer service
Create instruction and diagnostic manuals
Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience in a Quality Engineering role or Reproducible experiment work in an automotive manufacturing environment including internship or co-op’s experience
Experience:
- 1 to 3+ years of experience, including internship or co-op experience, in a Quality Engineering role or Reproducible experiment work in an automotive manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:
