ERM is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant , EHS Compliance with industry experience to join our growing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance and Management Services team in Holland, Michigan. The ideal candidate will bring strong environmental, health and safety regulatory permitting and compliance experience, with 6 years of industry and/or consulting experience to help our clients proactively address their environmental risks and challenges. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for supporting and leading on a range of environmental compliance and management projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM's global technical team to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES: Support development and implementation of compliance assessments and audits to ensure effective risk control and regulatory compliance. Perform environmental and or health and safety compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Manage and develop plans, permits, procedures and calculations for EPCRA and TRI reporting, hazardous waste, storm water, wastewater, and spill prevention. Specialty in one or more of these fields is desired. Develop, manage, and implement environmental management systems and programs for corporate clients. Provide on-site compliance support at client facilities. Design and direct corporate EHS strategies and programs and achieve clients expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality. Develop and expand client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to build a network within and outside of ERM that will enable you to leverage your skills and solve challenging multi-disciplinary client challenges. Contribute to expanding ERMs EHS business. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients. Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables. Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and junior staff. Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of technical team. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors or Masters Degree in engineering, chemistry, life science, environmental science, or related discipline. 6 years relevant experience in working with organizations on EHS management, leadership/culture, and/or sustainable EHS compliance programs. Experience with small to medium client account management and/or maintaining corporate management standards (either as a consultant or an internal compliance officer). Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision. Be passionate about EHS performance improvement and have substantial experience developing and delivering world-class EHS program solutions. Ability to work independently and in a team setting, with guidance and direction. Ability to be adaptable, deal with ambiguity, be flexible to changing situations, able to think outside the box, and to identify and respond rapidly to safety issues in field locations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and the ability to communicate effectively. Willingness to travel in support of client programs. Up to 30% travel may be required.
