Holland Hospital Patient Access Specialist in Holland, Michigan
Registers patients into the hospital information system for all hospital services showing exemplary customer service and technical skill. demonstrates understanding that Patient Access is the 'face of the hospital' and sets the stage for all activities in the clinical departments and revenue cycle. Gathers registration information through interview with patient or their representative, following appropriate departmental and hospital procedures. Obtains proper signatures on consent forms, collects co-pays and payments on account when deemed necessary and explains appropriate hospital policies. Enters patient payer information by verifying and explaining benefits to patients using software specific for that function. Performs order entry in the clinical information system.
Minimum Education/Training: High School diploma or GED. Prior hospital or physician office experience. Experience in healthcare information system. Previous experience in revenue cycle functions.
Registration/Certification or License Required:
Preferred Education: Associates or Bachelor's.
Physical Requirements: Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart. Occasional standing, walking. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling. Continuous sitting. Continuous keyboard use. Continuous talking, hearing.
Other Requirements: Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office functionality. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong aptitude for accuracy and speed. Communicates effectively with wide variety of personalities. Proven exemplary customer service skills in a teamwork environment maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Experience multi-tasking in a healthcare or office setting.
