NCS Pearson, Inc. 221 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030Senior Software Quality Engineer Job Description:Responsible for analyzing, testing, and resolving technical issues to ensure that developed products meet design specifications. Responsible for leading and providing technical QA direction in one or more projects. Guide the planning, creation, and execution of automated tests using test automation tool/framework including, but not limited to UFT (unified functional testing) tool using VB script, API - REST-assured, JUnit, and Java/VB script based homegrown test frameworks. Ensure highly complex testing on projects utilizing Practice Area guidelines. Contribute to the development of other team members. Subject matter expert on testing web applications, database and automation of frontend/backend services using VB script /selenium-based test framework. Lead, plan, schedule, and implement testing for projects, define test objectives, write scripts (manual and automated). Formulate test plans including systems analysis, risk analysis, dependency analysis, writing and plotting test strategies, and determine how to report defects (pre/post- production). Identify test automation approach and make sure the code is scalable and not redundant. Review the automation code from team members and make sure Pearson coding standards are followed. Investigate and report project issues by communicating and working with various departments including Development, Product, Project Management, Systems and Application support groups, Network Engineering, etc., as well as other project teams. Provide training and mentoring to Software Quality Engineers. Analyze and ensure requirements/User Story acceptance criteria are acceptable for test case creation. Execute manual and automated test cases, as well as performs back-end data validation. Track test progress and results in test management tools like Jira, Hewlett-Packard ALM (Application Life Cycle Management) and report status to management through various metrics/dashboards. Identify opportunities and lead the roll out of inventive tech ideas and implements solutions with other projects teams, the SQE department, as well as other departments. Job Requirements:Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a directly related field plus four (4) years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer, Test Engineer, or a related occupation. Must have four (4) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):-Experience utilizing JIRA or HP-ALM test management systems to define, create, and track testrelated user story and task items-Experience with Automation design and development of test scripts for web applications ordatabases-Experience with automated testing tools/framework, including VB script (HP Unified testing tool(UFT) database) or Selenium based Framework (Junit/TestNG)-Experience working on complex enterprise systems and creating test strategies forplanning/execution of quality deliverablesMust have three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):-Experience leading and mentoring multiple teams.
