About the Role
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) works to keep the agency corruption-free. To accomplish this, the OIG detects, receives, and investigates allegations of fraud, corruption, waste, and abuse with respect to employees, or other individuals or organizations doing business with the Port Authority, who attempt to corrupt or unlawfully interfere with Port Authority operations. The Inspector General is looking for highly skilled individuals to join his team in support of the mission – to enhance and defend the integrity of the Port Authority’s programs and operations. Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Police Integrity Division, the Senior Confidential Investigator will participate in conducting highly sensitive, confidential investigations involving suspected acts of misconduct alleged to have been committed by represented members of the Port Authority Public Safety Department, or other individuals within the Port Authority. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following functions:
Responsibilities
Conductshighlyconfidentialandsensitiveinvestigations.
Preparesinvestigativeplansoutliningnecessarystepsrequiredtocompleteaninvestigation.
Analyzes/evaluatesagency/contractorrecords,procedures,activities,andothermattersas appropriate.
Work alongside the Port Authority Police Department to investigate misconduct.
Maintain a good working relationship with all Police Unions and be knowledgeable with the union contractsthat are in place.
Collaborateswithfederalstate,andcityinvestigatorsandlawenforcementagencies.
Maintainshighintegrityandtheabsoluteconfidentialityofinformationrelatingtoissues concerning the Office of Investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
Individualshouldpossessatleast10yearsof experienceinconductingavarietyofinvestigations, which includes, but is not limited to the ability to examine and analyze books and records; interview and take sworn statements from witnesses; document investigative findings; prepare investigative memoranda and reports of investigation; execute search and arrest warrants; and testify before judicial and administrative tribunals.
At least 5 years of Police Internal Affairs/ corruption experience
Individualshouldbeexperiencedinworkingwithprosecutorialandlawenforcementagencies and able to mediate any issues that might arise between agencies during the course of conducting joint investigations and prosecutions.
Demonstratedethicsandsoundjudgment,withanabilitytoexercisediscretiononconfidential and sensitive matters.
Abilitytoworkindependently,aswellasinateamenvironment,andtakedirection.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’sDegreeinareasofdisciplinerelatedtolawenforcementishighlydesirable.
Previousexperienceasaninspectorgeneralorinternalaffairsinvestigator
Strongcomputerskills,includingWord,Excel,anddatabases.
Stronginterpersonalskills,oralcommunication,andinterviewingskills
Demonstratedabilitytowritesuccinctandorganizedreports.
Strongorganizationalskillsandprovenabilitytomanagetimeefficiently,meetdeadlinesand multi-task
