Robert Half Tax Support Analyst in Highland Hills, Ohio

Description We are offering a contract for a permanent position as a Tax Support Analyst in the Payroll Services industry, based in Highland Hills, Ohio. As a Tax Support Analyst, you will be tasked with ensuring the accuracy of our customers' federal, state, and local filings through research and preparation. Your role will also involve managing payroll related tax returns, interacting with various internal departments and clients, and keeping abreast of payroll tax laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Research, prepare and ensure the accuracy of requested payroll tax returns

• Handle timely deposits and filing of all Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual payroll related tax returns for multiple FEIN's

• Perform audits in preparation for employee W2's and provide client support for tax maintenance

• Collaborate with client service teams for complex payroll corrections, tax return amendments, onboarding and offboarding clients

• Interact with Accounting, Quality Control, and Payroll Departments to identify and resolve variances during payroll data extracts

• Investigate and address payroll tax notices, penalties, amendments and questionnaire requests with tax agencies

• Reconcile tax accounts and analyze account variances, working directly with the client and/or service teams on variance resolutions

• Stay updated with payroll tax knowledge including laws/regulations enacted, proposed legislation, trends, and industry best practices

• Complete all payroll tax registrations for clients

• Review and input tax rates and/or deposit frequency changes as part of client compliance efforts. Requirements • Proficiency in Customer Service, demonstrating the ability to effectively handle client inquiries and concerns.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, with the ability to perform complex calculations and create detailed reports.

• Experience in Payroll services, including processing, managing, and reconciling payroll.

• Strong research skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues.

• Ability to review and verify data for accuracy, ensuring quality control.

• Experience in performing reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and making necessary adjustments.

• Familiarity with Onboarding processes and best practices.

• Understanding of Regulation and Law Regulation in the payroll industry.

• Experience with handling deposits and managing wages in a payroll setting.

• Knowledge of Tax Accounting principles, including filing and processing tax returns.

• Familiarity with Payroll Functions, including compliance functions and variance analysis.

• Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal.

• In-depth knowledge of Tax laws, regulations, and legislation.

• Understanding and application of Best Practices in the payroll industry.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience in Law Regulation, particularly as it pertains to payroll and tax.

• Familiarity with Compliance Functions in the payroll industry, ensuring all activities are in line with regulations.

• Experience in Quality Control, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.

• Knowledge of Variance Analysis, with the ability to identify and explain variances in financial data.

• Experience handling tasks in a detail oriented and timely manner.

• Knowledge of Tax - Returns, including preparation, review, and filing.

• Understanding of Legislation impacting the payroll industry.
