HERRIMAN CITY Parks Tech I - Trails in HERRIMAN, Utah

Our Parks Department provides a great opportunity for hard-working individuals who like to work with their hands to learn parks maintenance skills and be outside. This position may include some weekends and after-hours for City events. Herriman City provides a fantastic work environment and we are a great place to work. GENERAL-PURPOSE

Perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of city parks, open spaces, trail systems, and facilities. Assists with city-sponsored events as needed.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives direction from the Parks Manager but may also receive direction and oversight from a higher level Parks Technician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs all required special work duties during City-sponsored events and recreational programs as needed.
  • Performs maintenance of open space properties including but not limited to trail maintenance and construction, restoration projects, mowing,
  • Monitors and repairs open space facilities including fences, parking lots, restrooms, and other recreational areas.
  • Designs, installs and checks signs for accuracy, damage and fading, replace or clean as needed.
  • Weed, trim, and mow City parks, open spaces, and trails.
  • Assists in duties for the maintenance, collection of garbage, weed control, bush hogging, and spraying of all city trail systems and open areas performed with work release personnel.
  • Provides field and park preparation of baseball fields and arenas.
  • Assists in snow removal around facilities
  • May be required to be a stand-by for on-call rotation for the snow removal
  • Performs all other duties as needed or assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1-year experience in park maintenance or lawn care or closely related area.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills to complete the required job duties.

Preferred

  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Experience in Customer Service

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Must be at least 18yrs old.
  • Requires a valid Utah Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and driving record check

Schedule

 

  • 10 hour shifts with either Monday's or Fridays Off
