Position Summary: JMT is seeking a mid-level water resources engineer to join their Herndon Team. This position will perform aspects of water resources engineering under the supervision of a registered professional engineer. U.S. Residency Required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Analyze and design storm drainage systems
Analyze and design stormwater management practices
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
Develop erosion and sediment control plans
Perform inspection and assessment of constructed stormwater management practices
Complete permit applications for state and local agencies
Utilize general engineering principles and practices daily
Develop construction cost estimates
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Mentor junior level water resources staff
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

Required Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written and oral communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
Professional engineer certification
5+ years of experience in water resources engineering
Preferred Experience
Virginia DEQ certified stormwater management combined administrator
Water resources engineering design experience in Virginia
Storm drainage design experience
Stormwater management design experience
Erosion and sediment control design experience
Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD
Experience with HEC-RAS
Experience with GIS
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
