Citigroup Process Control Lead Analyst (C13) hybrid located in Heredia in Heredia, Costa Rica
he Finance Acctg Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:
Supports the management and control data flows to and within Finance applications to ensure integrity and completeness of data, including by preparing and recording financial transactions for legal vehicle and regulatory reporting purposes, updating the general ledger, recording financial transactions, and preparing of consolidated financial statements, in accordance with management reporting requirements, for legal vehicle & regulatory purposes. Also, includes specialized accounting, such as equity compensation, securitization, payroll and investment accounting.
Provides advises on directional strategy by analyzing subject matter and its application in own job and the business.
Acts as a technical expert who acts as an advisor on significant business/product decisions.
Take responsibility for the accurate reporting of accounting reconciliations on Citi reporting tools.
Review and examine key controls for accounting process across multiple process being handled.
Focuses on the implementation of policies and procedures.
Partner with key stakeholders including legal entity managers, e.g., Country, Balance Sheet control group (BSCG), Global process lead (GPL) & Global process owner (GPO) across multiple locations communicating progress on assigned process completion.
Identify and appropriately highlight / escalate potential issues relating to account with stakeholders such as Regional Balance Sheet control group / Country controllers / Global process lead (GPL) and Global process owner (GPO) and work with them for resolution.
Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and advanced knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
Demonstrates an advanced understanding of how multiple process collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.
Directly impacts the leadership in multiple process through responsibility for delivery of end results leading to business solutions.
Ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards.

Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant (CA) / Master in business administration (MBA)/ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent combination of education
6-10 years of experience in accounting management with commensurate stakeholder management experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
The Global Financial Controls (GFC) team is strategically placed within the Controller’s Chief Administrative Office under Finance. The GFC Americas Issue Management Team is responsible for governance and controls of the Issue Management process for various global Controller teams, this includes, but is not limited to, governance and oversight of Issue and Corrective Plans, partnering with teams on design of improved controls, and working with key stakeholders across Finance to ensure Corrective Action Plans are executed timely and sustainably.
This role will drive Issue remediation advisory, corrective action plan execution monitoring, controls effectiveness testing during sustainability period and artifacts review, and will closely work with Citi’s Lines of Defense (LOD) and Controller teams such as Wealth, USPB, SEC Reporting, Transformation, Corporate Functions and Controller Systems & Data Operations. This will involve understanding Americas Controllers processes, risks and associated controls and working closely with businesses to identify risks and control deficiencies. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of information. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, in particular colleagues in the corresponding businesses.
Responsibilities include:
Partner with business Controller teams in drafting Issues and Corrective Action Plans.
Recommend action plans for identified risks and deficient or missing controls, and partners with stakeholders to develop approaches for broader corporate/local issues.
Responsible for coordination and agreement of the period to be pre-validated for sustainability with Issue owners.
The role may require collaboration with different business areas to identify root cause and drive improvements across the organization.
Ability to work in close liaison and coordination with business stakeholders and sponsors to elicit, analyze, communicate, plan, manage, validate, and prioritize requirements and build strong professional relationship.
Support the review and challenge of Issues and CAPs during the Issue lifecycle.
Support Americas Controllers to identify all applicable stakeholders who will participate in issue resolution.
Establish agreements with Internal Audit and internal stakeholders on CAP artifacts required for closure & sustainability.
Review issues cited in audit reports (internal and external), monitor execution of corrective action plans through active engagement with Issue owners throughout Issue lifecycle to ensure issues are closed timely and sustainably.
Support Control Metrics process and improvement.
Keep abreast of internal policy changes to further identify new key risk areas impactful to current open issues.
Promoting a strong control culture to facilitate timely escalation of significant risks through control governance channels.
Support Issue Management process, including review of Issues sent to Internal Audit, ORM and Compliance for validation. Support ORM and Compliance Review and Challenge process.
Review and challenge of issues and corrective action plans in internal and external audit reports prior to report finalization. Agree sustainability and CAP artifacts to be sent to IA to support Issue closure. Ensure issues have senior ownership according to Issue Management Policy.

Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar.
Master’s degree preferred.
Audit experience in an accounting or financial services firm.
Good understanding of financial products, businesses, reporting systems, internal audit processes.
Knowledge of digital tools (e.g. Knime, Python, BOTs) desired.
Proven skills in problem solving, competing priorities management, negotiation, project management and organizational structure.
Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
Personable and reliable self-starter who requires minimal management oversight for day-to-day work responsibilities. Highly motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and manage multiple competing priorities including emerging risks to deliver solutions in an effective control environment.
Ability to communicate simply, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing, fluently in English and Spanish.
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal with colleagues at all levels across the Firm.
