U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Traffic Management Specialist in Hawthorne, Nevada

About the Position: This position is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, as a Traffic Management Specialist in the Directorate of Ammunitions Operations. Responsibilities As the Traffic Management Specialist in the Directorate of Ammunition Operations you will serve as the senior advisor to the Installation Commander. Plan, direct and control the operational activities of the Transportation Branch. Formulate operational plans, policies and procedures in connection with inbound and outbound cargo movements. Provide solutions to difficult and unprecedented transportation problems requiring extensive knowledge of complex transportation methods. Coordinate all material release orders for domestic shipments. Serve as liaison between operating contractor, commercial carriers, Military Traffic Management Command and other agencies to resolve transportation problems. Arrange for all export shipments to be shipped through Government approved ports. Receive, review and forward to contractor inbound bills, and invoices and supporting documents for accuracy of classification. Serve as the installations technical expert on all transportation matters. Specialized experience is defined as utilizing an automated traffic management data program to analyze transit time data to determine carrier effectiveness. Provide instructions or guidance to ensure safe and efficient shipment of ammunition to meet regulations. Review contracts to verify accuracy of freight classification, funding or carrier mode. OR Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from a nationally accredited university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet the total qualification requirements at the GS-11 level. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral Communication Planning and Evaluating Transportation Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
