Amentum Medical Assistant in Hawthorne, Nevada

Amentum is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Medical Assistant will be a key staff member at the on-site medical clinic. Typical functions include tracking of employee physicals, appointment scheduling, health records maintenance, develop patient assessment & evaluation charts, administer minor first-aid, and to coordinate higher level of emergency response care as needed.

Typical Responsibilities Include :

  • Perform and provide minor first aid such as caring for minor cuts, abrasions, lacerations, and burns; recognizing and administering first aid for shock, heat stroke, and hysteria. Facilitates higher level of medical care in emergency situations.

  • Conducts assessments and evaluations of injury or ailment. Advise management, Supervising Physician, private physician, or the employee about the circumstances of the injury. Furnish medical history as appropriate.

  • Perform physical examinations to include but not limited to phlebotomy, audiometry, spirometry, vitals, blood pressure, pulse, o2 stats, BMI of employees and others eligible for clinic services.

  • Maintain employee health history documentation. Administer immunization and documentation. Administer oxygen. Understand and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

  • Assists in the scheduling of examinations, treatment, or return to work. Secure ambulance services for injured or ill employees, as required. Assist in completing the Clinic’s portion of accident record forms.

  • Performs evidential breath tests and urine/saliva collections for alcohol & drug program.

  • Maintain employee medical files using Electronic Health Records system.

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • Follow established procedures and takes direction from the Medical Director, Clinic Administrator, Safety Manager, and/or Designee(s).

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Work in close proximity to ammunition and explosive demilitarization facility, ammunition and explosive storage facilities, and ammunition and explosive conveyance.

  • Breaks and lunch periods can be at irregular times based on the requirements of the schedule.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and obtained a High School diploma/equivalent.

  • Two (2) years' experience in Industrial Clinic Operations, an outpatient environment, or other Medical Field.

  • Must be computer literate in software applications and able to operate general office equipment.

  • Must be willing to be at work when scheduled, maintain a good attendance record, and have the ability to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.

  • Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.

  • Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

  • Must be able to be certified in any facet of clinic operations and have basic knowledge of pulmonary function testing, hearing test, vision screening and electrocardiogram.

  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access

  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment for efficient medical clinic functions.

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by the Master Training Plan.

Desired Qualifications

  • National Medical Assistant certification or equivalent.

  • Phlebotomy experience, certification, and license.

  • First Aid/CPR Certified.

  • Certified to complete Evidential Breath Testing and Drug & Alcohol screenings.

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
