Job Title: Millwright

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Millwright to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance on pump, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machinery. The Millwright will locate sources of problems, remove defective parts, determine changes in dimensional requirements, and fabricate repair parts. This role also involves preparing maintenance reports, cleaning and adjusting parts, cutting and welding metal, and maintaining the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.

  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.

  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.

  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.

  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.

  • Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.

  • Assist with planning and closing the loop on work orders in Maximo.

  • Record parts and materials used and order or create requisition for new parts and materials as necessary.

  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Red Seal 433A Millwright License or Electromechanical College Diploma in Quebec

  • 2+ years of Canadian Millwright experience in an industrial environment

  • Experience with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, belts, and chains

  • Own set of tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding and cutting

  • Working at heights

  • Lockout/tagout procedures

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial roofing manufacturing plant, which is a hot and dusty environment. The facility is very large, with 40% of the work being outside and 60% inside. The plant comprises four different areas: Shingle Line, Oxidizer, Crusher, and Razz Section. The maintenance team consists of 12 people along with additional contractors. The shifts are continental, rotating every two weeks between day and night shifts (7am-7pm/7pm-7am).
