General Statement

The Office of Recruiting at MSU -Northern is a fast-paced, high-performing, goal-oriented environment that seeks to engage prospective students, their families, and other stakeholders in events that showcase the exceptional quality education that MSUN provides and to do so through events on-campus, off-campus, and virtually. The individual assigned to this position will be a motivated self-starter who can work independently without close supervision, be a part of a team in an effective and professional manner, and work collaborative across the university.

Please Note: MSUN will only consider applicants who are authorized to work in the US and MSUN will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working to build relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, teachers, and others on an information-sharing basis.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of university academic programs and admissions standards.

  • Traveling extensively (approximately 25 weeks out of the year) from August through May: travel includes in-state and out-of-state destinations.

  • Providing campus tours to prospective students and their families as well as assisting prospective students through the application and admission process.

  • Processing official documents as needed

  • Entering data

  • Using Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) software for student contact management and communication.

  • Assisting with on-campus programs including representing MSU -Northern at university and community events.

In addition, this position

  • Uses Banner for data processing

  • Works with other institutional departments to keep current about academic program information, departmental policies and procedures, and student activities.

  • Works with institutional committees

  • Performs other duties to support the mission and goals of the institution

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree OR

Associate’s degree with work experience that demonstrates excellent communication skills

Current and valid Montana driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within a month of hire

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  1. Experience working with students in admissions, recruiting, residence life, student government, orientation, or other campus and student organizations

  2. Knowledge or experience using Banner or similar database

  3. Knowledge or experience using Anthology Reach or a similar CRM

  4. Experience planning and coordinating projects and events

  5. Demonstrated excellent communications skills

  6. Sales experience

  • Demonstrate effective time management skill and ability to meet deadlines

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy. Specifically, the Title IX Coordinator:

  • Coordinates educational programs and trainings regarding discrimination and harassment prevention for students and employees;

  • Responds to and seeks to resolve reports of discrimination and harassment following the Procedures;

  • Provides information about and, if requested, assists with criminal reporting;

  • Provides information about resources for obtaining advocacy, healthcare, and counseling services; and
