Job Description

The Shipper I reports to the Purchasing & Logistics Manager and is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping parts, products, and machinery for domestic and international customer orders as well as assisting and providing backup for others in Shipping and Receiving.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pick, pack, and consolidate materials for customer orders

  • Inspect items to ensure materials are free from damage

  • Fold, staple, and tape standard and non-standard boxes

  • Mount and secure large shipments onto skids, crates, or boxes

  • Build crates as required

  • Operate foam-in-place packing equipment

  • Process transactions in the ERP system including serial number input

  • Generate and apply shipping and billing labels including both manual processing and operating UPS, FEDEX, and barcoding systems to complete airway bills and bills of lading for ground, air, and LTL motor freight shipments

  • Prepare shipping closing reports

  • Assist drivers in loading their trucks

  • Maintain accurate finished goods inventory and kanban replenishment

  • Maintain appropriate levels of shipping and packing supplies, requisition as needed

  • Monitor and respond to voicemail and email messages daily

  • Help troubleshoot and resolve shipping issues and customer complaints

  • Perform general housekeeping tasks

  • Perform other tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Relevant work experience in a storeroom, warehouse, or shipping/receiving preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows required (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

  • Familiarity with UPS & FEDEX label machines, packing tape dispenser, foam-in-place machine, bander, pallet wrapper, manual & powered hand truck, forklift, battery charger, pneumatic stapler, and protective eyewear preferred

  • Able to work with others in a team environment

  • Able to follow company safety policies and procedures

  • Able to be trained and qualified to operate powered lift trucks

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand work instructions in English

  • Able to stand and walk continuously

  • Able to occasionally bend, squat, twist, kneel, and reach

  • Able to lift and carry 55 lbs occasionally

The position is located in Hatfield, PA. at the Simco-Ion facility.
