Development Resource Group, Inc. Electrical Engineer II in Hastings, Minnesota
Seeking an Electrical Engineer II for a custom machine builder that provides design, engineering, fabrication and assembly of custom equipment. This position is responsible for designing controls systems for industrial automation machines per customer requirements. This role involves producing electrical schematics, BOMs, selecting components including sensors, motors and drives, PLCs, etc., programming VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs, performing equipment verification tests, layout and wiring of components within control panels, mounting sensors and other components and routing cables for automated machines. A successful candidate will possess attention to detail, demonstrated knowledge of required tools and methods for electrical design, provide guidance to less experienced team members. Up to 5% interstate and 10% local travel for team meetings, client consultations, field surveys, construction observation, etc. Key Responsibilities: Work as part of a team to design of electrical solutions for automated machines Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to develop electrical schematics Build accurate bill of materials and work with office staff for item procurement Develop PLC programs mainly using Rockwell Studio 5000 Develop HMI programs mainly using Rockwell Factorytalk View Interpret customer requirements based on direct communication or written specifications Submit electrical design packages to customers and work with them to get projects approved Attend design reviews to provide questions and feedback for the design Analyze test data and reports to help determine if design meets functional and performance specifications Ensure control panels are built to UL508A standards Assemble and/or provide guidance to co-workers to build electrical control panels Wire & terminate sensors, electrical boxes, and any other electrical devices on machines Provide support for mechanical assembly of automated machines as needed Oversee technicians and less experienced team members in assembly of control panels and machine wiring Provide technical support for existing equipment and new equipment installations Identify, recommend, and implement equipment improvements to new and existing systems that reduce risk to employees, improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs Responsible for technical communication with the customer Work with vendors to specify or select components for design, troubleshoot, or identify procurement sources Manage priorities with input from management and senior electrical engineers Drive electrical projects from concept to completion Coordinate design efforts to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team and management Collaborate with management, leads and technicians to eliminate repeated failures Ability to work independently Flexible working style and a willingness to adapt to changing production needs Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering 3-10 years related experience in industrial manufacturing environment Demonstrated knowledge of various electrical codes: UL508A, NEC, NFPA, etc. Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical Knowledge of 480VAC/240VAC/120VAC/24VDC systems, motor control, VFD s, sensors, and process instrumentation Proficient in Microsoft Office software tools Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work or personal experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with co-workers, vendors, and customers Project management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, write reports and interfacing with clients Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds for short distances If interested and qualified, please submit your resume to careers@dr-group.com or visit our website to apply: www. r-group.com (job #6494)
