This is a Band 30 role
This is an opportunity to be part of the Credit and Fraud Risk Controllership (C&FRC) team. The individual will directly contribute to the successful implementation of various system enhancements, analytics and automated reports.
Purpose of the role:
As part of a world-class Controllership group, the C&FRC organization is responsible for managing end to end credit and fraud process from reserve adequacy assessment through to the external and regulatory reporting. They will work closely with Controllership, Risk, Risk Finance, Technologies, and other groups responsible for day to day deliverables.
This role will support tech development of various features for credit reserving, disclosures and management report as a Business Specialist and will form a part of the Troubled Debt Restructuring Group within the C&FRC organization.
Responsibilities:
Create functional specification and process specific design documentation to support process and report owner requirements.
Create and communicate the vision, value and priorities of the product and collaborate closely and constantly with the development team and broader product owner team on the delivery of product features.
Work closely and coordinate with various Product Owners, Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Architecture colleagues, and Data Management team to ensure builds are appropriate for American Express products.
Understand the needs of the business and the user with respect to the product/features
Support user story creation and refinement including clear acceptance criteria
Lead user acceptance testing, parallel run testing, and any other testing required to ensure the build meets the requirements authored including development and execution of test cases, and documentation of results
Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to manage, manipulate and analyse complex data
Structured problem-solving skills with proficiency in Python, SQL, HIVE & EXCEL, GCP Big Query, ability to identify and diagnose data issues when they arise
Proven experience querying databases, SQL, and working with programming tools, Python.
Experience in analyzing data, drawing inferences, and making recommendations.
Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and on aggressive timelines.
Effective team player and be able to manage multiple projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with evidence in the creation of clear and compelling presentations to senior leadership
Team player but still able to work independently and on own initiative

Past Experience:
Experience in areas like project management, process governance & control & compliance is required
SQL, HIVE, Pyspark, GCP Big Query and data analysis experience
Product/platform understanding and process design experience
Testing management and execution experience
Foundational data warehousing principles and data modeling experience is a plus
Agile trained is a plus
In addition to above, experience with credit reserves and portfolio analysis, financial modeling and accounting is a plus
Experience with financial reporting requirements and processes is a plus
Exhibits organizational skills with the ability to meet/exceed critical deadlines and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
A self-starter, proactive team player with a passion to consistently deliver high quality service and exceed customers’ expectations
Excellent Communication Skills; Verbal, Written
Academic Background:
2-5 years of testing management, project work experience including strong techno-functional skills
Degree in Software or Computer Engineering

Strong process orientation and analytical problem-solving skills, demonstrated process improvement
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong collaboration and relationship skills
Excellent relationship building, presentation and collaboration skills
Technical Skills/Capabilities:

Knowledge of financial systems
A good understanding of the banking products is a plus
SQL, HIVE, Pyspark, GCP Big Query and data analysis experience
Knowledge of Big Data Platforms
Awareness of relevant US GAAP/Local GAAP/IFRS is a plus
