Job Title:Financial Education Specialist

Reports to:Director, Workforce Development Services

Supervises:N/A

FLSA Classification:Non Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:This role is responsible for providing and helping participants attain financial capability skills. This position will train young people on how to budget, set up savings accounts that will be matched dollar for dollar. In addition, youth will develop financial management skills that will help them with securing a residence, purchasing a car. They will learn how to manage a broad range of activities that support participant's Financial Capability attainment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides financial capability services to referred youth based on individual needs
  • Creates individual financial plans with youth that includes both long term and short term attainable goals
  • Ensures that all youth is offered an orientation session towards program expectations
  • Conducts surveys and assessments with referred youth
  • Provides groups and/or individual financial capability sessions/workshops as needed
  • Evaluates, records and reports participants progress and observations to supervisor
  • Provides Youth Development Specialist with progress information on financial goal attainments
  • Facilitates curriculum and deliver financial literacy education content, products and services to participants and other audiences as required
  • Conducts intake and orientation to financial capability services with referred youth
  • Develops Professional partnerships with financial institutions that can provide youth friendly services and products
  • Participates in weekly team meetings
  • Documents and ensures accuracy of all engagement efforts with youth, follow up services/activities and partnership developments
  • Attends professional development trainings
  • Coordinate banking fairs
  • Ensures that all departmental and program annual goals are met
  • Participates in agency-wide training on fund development and role as an OPP ambassador.
  • Travel Required
  • Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor and/or director

Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree 2+ years of professional level experience
  • Proficient in use of computer technology, (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook), Internet, and database systems
  • Ability to instruct individuals/groups and measures training effects
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to Adapt and Demonstrate Basic Youth Development Principles
  • Ability to respect and honor cultural and human diversity
  • Ability to work as part of a team and show professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving, decision-making and motivational skills
  • Detail oriented, sense of humor, and strong commitment to youth development
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid CT drivers license and own vehicle
