Position Summary This position coordinates and manages all aspects of our supply chain, including the acquisition of all materials (including fruit), the timely scheduling of pitting, processing and packaging, inbound freight (especially on imported fruit), and the identification of inventory to be transferred outbound to our various forwarding warehouses. Freight to customers will not be included under the responsibility of this position. Oversee or coordinate the purchasing of all raw materials, including fruit, to ensure the plant can achieve the budgeted pack plan, both by month and by year. Keep senior management appraised of any variations to plan due to lower or higher stem retention, missed or short shipments, lower incoming fruit quality, etc. Responsibility to contract specific ingredient categories (i.e., glass, caps, sweeteners, pitted fruit) may fall to others outside the plant, but this individual still needs to understand the contracts and be the internal monitor of vendor and plant performance to those contracts, along with ensuring the timely deliveries of required materials. Assist Purchasing during vendor visits to make those meetings more of a team experience. Be the point person responsible for aged materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories to avoid large end-of-year surprise adjustments. While not solely responsible for this, this individual needs to coordinate these efforts and help drive results. Work with our Customer Service group and the various Sales teams to better coordinate packaging development/redesign. Bridge the communication gap between plant and Sales when packaging changes are underway. Oversee and manage the freight costs associated with bringing in supplies, pitted and unpitted fruit (both domestic and imported), and the identification of truckload quantities of finished goods inventory to be shipped to our forward warehouses (Stock Transfer Orders). Movement from these warehouses direct to the customers (even from Hart) will remain the responsibility of Customer Service. Provide vacation and training coverage for the Purchasing and Planning/Scheduling functions. Ensure proper cross-training to support and cover these roles.
