Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Purpose of Position

  • Define and implement improvements within operations, including operational excellence, increased technical skills, training, safety projects and performance gains

  • Drive rigor and support for operations in the form of documentation, communication and change management

  • Monitor OEE and quality metrics amongst all areas with a focus on performance visibility for operators

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure operators execute documented operating procedures and work with operations and plant engineering to close operator gaps in understanding

  • Coordinate with OSSs to drive consistency in operator expectations and approach

  • Help deliver rollout of new training, documentation, etc. to grow operator skill sets and proficiency

  • Gains VOC input from Operations helping to distill messages into actionable items

  • Coordinate with plant engineering to receive and aid integration of new technologies into operations, as applicable, to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed

  • Gathers and presents data to support Operational position on new technologies

  • Trend OEE loss categories to identify areas of opportunity and share analysis with operations the engineering group

  • Supports communication and understanding of full data sets and results

  • Highlight and define gaps where engineering solutions are needed and prioritize efforts to support Operations success

  • Ensure adherence to rigorous PCPD practices (MOC, review of eSOS, BOD documentation audits, etc.)

  • Build effective relations with plant support groups, including melting, forming, equipment engineering, quality and safety

  • Serve as a technical Operations representative in applicable run planning and toolbox meetings

  • Actively engage in plant safety initiatives

  • Execute cost reduction, lean and/or PEx projects (DMAIC/DESIGN) in line with business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain critical Operational tools, documents, etc.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering or other scientific Major

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
