ComSonics Inc Materials Manager in Harrisonburg, Virginia
ComSonics has a great opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced
Materials Managerto direct and coordinate activities for the corporate material management function including planning, procurement, storage, control and distribution of materials and products, and corporate freight programs . The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain principles, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective inventory control strategies, including setting appropriate inventory levels, conducting cycle counts, and managing obsolescence.
- Oversee the procurement process, including sourcing new suppliers, negotiating contracts, and placing purchase orders.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor and analyze supply chain performance, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation plans.
- Implement and improve inventory management systems and processes.
- Lead and mentor a team of materials handlers and other support staff.
- Prepare reports and presentations on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory and supply chain performance.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as production, engineering, and finance, to ensure smooth operations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in materials management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a focus in materials management or supply chain management with eight years of progressive materials management and leadership experience ORan equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in inventory control, procurement, and supplier management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Experience leading and mentoring a team.
- Strong focus on continuous improvement.
