DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform the following: Applying construction specifications, policies and procedures related to the fundamentals of bituminous and cement concrete pavement, fabricated structural steel and pre-stressed concrete bridges, bridge structure foundation principles, and the principles of construction scheduling, cost accounting and construction management in performing quality assurance reviews of ECMS project work orders approved by the Engineering Districts to determine whether current Department policies and procedures governing the processing of changes to existing contracts for the construction and maintenance of bridges and highways are being met. Gauging the potential implications of a discovered deficiency and act accordingly. Performing or assisting with the development and distribution of a Work Order Q/A Review Annual Report that identifies areas of non-compliance and targets deficiencies for improvement. Performing or assisting the Transportation Construction Manager 2 with the development and conducting of Construction Winter School training sessions for the field-based, Construction Unit personnel in the Engineering Districts. Conducting bi-weekly survey of asphalt cement resellers / refiners and collect current monthly price data from gasoline and distillate resellers and the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Schedule might fluctuate due to vendor-controlled operations. This position is eligible for Alternative Work Schedule (AWS). Travel and Overtime is required.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor; or Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training. Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation. An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
