DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a single, less complex highway or bridge project that involves tasks such as pavement restoration or replacement, minor base repair, intersections, single-span structures, or acting as a phase supervisor on more intricate projects under the guidance of a higher-level project engineer. You will be supervising subordinate staff to ensure that inspections are carried out, documentation is accurate, and materials and workmanship meet contract requirements, standards, and specifications. Your role will also involve supporting and motivating all team members to engage in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting and implementing new strategies, restructuring existing processes to enhance efficiency, and fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the outcomes of both group and individual efforts. It is essential to recognize that every individual plays a part in the district's commitment to sustainable environmental practices, and each employee is expected to contribute to the objectives outlined in the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Additionally, you will actively participate in assisting your colleagues in achieving these objectives, demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship, and ensuring that the maintenance unit's business plan aligns with the goals of the SEMP. Your involvement in promoting a culture of environmental responsibility and supporting your team in meeting these objectives will be crucial to the successful execution of projects and the overall impact on the community and environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Vendor-Controlled Position

Travel and overtime may be required according to operational needs. The position will be reporting to various projects sites within Adams County, however limited travel to District 8-0 at 2140 Herr Street may be required. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector;or Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology;or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Condition of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
