As a Sr. Manager Supplier Development, you will have the responsibility to manage a portfolio of key high impact suppliers to drive supplier improvement sustained performance. Looking for an individual with strong technical background, project management skills, and can drive operational excellence, process maturity and process compliance within the supply base through on site visits and assessments.

You will help key suppliers in the resolution of significant issues that are likely to have a business-wide impact by working cross functionally with Engineering, Quality and Operations leadership. In addition, you will coordinate the resolution of company/department wide risks/obstacles to ensure manufacturing, supply chain, and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs. You will also be responsible for reporting key suppliers’ progress to operational initiatives at executive reviews with senior level leadership, both internal and external.

This individual requires frequent travel to local suppliers (up to 70%). This individual is a remote position that must be focused in Pennsylvania.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute on supplier rate readiness assessments to identify forward looking risk and develop actions to mitigate.

  • Develop and execute on Zero Defect Plans with suppliers to improve quality performance. Coordinate root cause identification and corrective actions.

  • Identify and Execute Business Process improvement activities with the supply base

  • Develop Continuous Improvement projects to increase process robustness both in the supply base and internally within the Global Supplier Development organization.

  • Lead onsite assessments to assess supplier qualifications and drive overall supplier improvement including training and certifications.

  • Identify and remove significant barriers to the implementation of CI for suppliers to improve on-time delivery and quality.

  • Develop and drive Supplier Operation Support (SOS) action plans for systemically poor performing/high impact suppliers that address poor production yield and equipment/tooling/people capacity.

  • Evaluate key supplier performance, management, capacity, and production readiness and apply sustainable counter measures and actions to facilitate improvement.

  • Oversees the monitoring of critical business wide metrics and the coordination of cross-functional work teams to significantly increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives.

  • Engage the senior management of key suppliers to initiate appropriate major improvement programs to achieve and sustain high levels of performance.

  • Plan, organize, direct, and report all activities and matters relating to supplier performance.

  • Develop and execute rapid transformation plans in collaboration with the supplier to ensure best performance is achieved.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Ensure Supply Chain compliance for military and commercial procurement.

  • Must be willing and able to travel 70% day travel

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  • 2+ years prior Supply Chain or shop floor experience

  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and lean principles

  • Ability to develop Zero Defect Plans in partnership with suppliers

  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools and/or Toyota Production System

  • Project Management experience

  • SAP or other ERP systems experience

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE (i.e, Six Sigma, ACE Practitioner certified, CORE Champion, Professional or Expert)

  • APICS, CPIM or related

  • Aerospace Industry experience

  • CPSM certification

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
