The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.pa.gov), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees.  The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $70+ billion.  This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.

PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River.  Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary.  If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania.  The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a direct report to the agency Managing Director of Private Markets, the Senior Manager will assist with the management of PSERS' Private Markets portfolios such as Private Equity, Private Credit, Private Real Estate, and Private Infrastructure.  In this capacity, the Senior Manager will be relied upon as a key contributor to the Private Markets team, responsible for recommending the direction and establishment of annual and long term goals for assigned portfolios and leading strategic and special projects related to the Private Markets portfolios.  Additionally, the Senior Manager will manage junior team members and external consultant interactions related to assigned portfolios, oversee external manager sourcing and related underwriting and monitoring processes, and negotiate new partnerships agreements with general counsel assistance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a PSERS Manager; or A Bachelor's degree and six years performing relevant public or private markets investment work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Successful completion of any of the following professional accreditations may be substituted for relevant work experience: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA): 1 year per level passed Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA): 1 year Financial Risk Manager (FRM): 1 year per level passed Professional Risk Manager (PRM): 1 year Certified Treasury Professional (CTP): 1 year (only applicable to Fixed Income positions) Certified Property Manager (CPM):  1 year per 4 courses passed (only applicable to Real Estate positions)

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Ten or more years of work experience in the investment management industry. Five or more years of work experience in private markets investment management industry. Three or more years of work experience at an endowment, foundation, pension, investment consultant, or other allocator of capital. Three or more years of work experience interpreting financial models. Two or more years of experience making professional presentations to key stakeholders. Completion of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. How to Apply: Your application must include a resume.
