Are you a self-motivated, detail-oriented attorney with an interest in utility law?  If so, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission's Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement (I&E) is looking for prosecutors experienced in complex administrative and/or regulatory matters, who value integrity, teamwork, and trust!  Continue your legal career with the PUC by representing I&E-Enforcement as an Assistant Counsel 3 in prosecuting cases of major importance and complexity involving all utility areas for violations of the Public Utility Code, Pennsylvania Statutes, and the Code of Federal Regulations before Commission Administrative Law Judges.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will serve as Assistant Counsel 3 for the Bureau of Investigation's (I&E) Enforcement Division in proceedings before PUC Administrative Law Judges, having responsibility for: Researching, evaluating legal positions, and resolving matters by settlement or litigating matters including preparing interrogatories, preparing and presenting witnesses and exhibits, cross-examining witnesses, analyzing evidence, making oral arguments and preparing and filing petitions, motions, briefs, exceptions, and other pleadings. Representing I&E-Enforcement in the prosecution of cases of major importance and complexity involving any utility areas for violations of the Public Utility Code, Pennsylvania Statutes, and the Code of Federal Regulations before Commission Administrative Law Judges, as sole or lead prosecutor by gathering facts, preparing witnesses, preparing pleadings, briefs and memoranda for the purpose of trial, and litigating those cases. Assisting as directed in coordinating the settlement or litigation of cases and the prosecution of high-level investigations among junior prosecutors, assigned Commission technical expert witnesses, and administrative staff. Assisting as directed in offering recommendations and counsel to the Chief Prosecutor and Deputy Chief Prosecutor when consulted on legal issues or policy matters affecting the public interest. Participating in meetings involving expert and lay witnesses to develop positions on litigation issues and participate, as directed, in the internal review of testimony and exhibits to be submitted at trial and/or the preparation of witnesses for live testimony. Interacting with junior prosecutors to foster and mentor knowledge of litigation and trial practice and procedures as well as the development of the necessary general legal skills for both trial and negotiation methods.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements: Within a reasonable travel distance of Harrisburg; and Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

The well- ualified candidate will have three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience, with some experience in highly responsible and complex professional legal work which provided exposure to governmental regulatory law (regarding public utilities) or administrative law and graduation from an approved school of law or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirements:

Possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or eligibility for such certification
