The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising the department's procurement of commodities which includes bidding of commodities, purchase document preparation, specifications control and development, and commodities acceptance and delivery.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Procurement Specialist 1, you work with agency subject matter experts and personnel for the procurement of routine goods and services.

Duties include assisting and monitoring supplier corrective action plans for quality, delivery and performance, establishing teams of agency personnel to gather and assess agency requirements for specific procurements for services, commodities, materials, and equipment availability to include alternatives and product information, and assisting in handling request for proposal procurements for commodities and services not on statewide contract for the department as well as agency  contracts. In addition, you obtain and maintain extensive knowledge of the Commonwealth/Agency purchasing policies and regulations, you oversee and ensure judgment and discretion, and assist in applying and interpreting department policies and procedures in an independent manner.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we provide excellent , pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 49,839.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience performing technical purchasing or contract management work; and a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, project, or operations management, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements:
