Winter CDL Equipment Operator ($22.49) Performs a variety of duties during the winter season, such as snow removal, traffic control, equipment repair and maintenance, guide rail repair and truck unloading.Winter Dispatcher ($17.00) Dispatches equipment operators during snowstorms and performs various clerical functions. Winter Mechanics (Diesel & Automotive Mechanics) ($24.42 - $27.75 based on title) Repairs and maintains PennDOT equipment and diesel-powered vehicles, including heavy trucks weighing 26,001 pounds or greater, graders, backhoes, front end loaders, and other equipment. Conducts routine maintenance and repair of vehicles, equipment and parts, to ensure that all fleet vehicles and equipment operate at peak efficiency within department standards.Winter Trades Positions (Tradesman Helper & Semi-Skilled Laborer) ($18.05) Conducts routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment and parts, to ensure that all fleet vehicles and equipment operates at peak efficiency and within department standards. Winter Tunnel Maintainer (Allegheny County) ($24.42) Performs tunnel maintenance, traffic control & monitoring, and incident management to ensure the efficient flow of traffic through tunnels and surrounding roadways in Allegheny County. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Transportation Equipment/CDL Operator: To be eligible, you must have: Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program employed by the Commonwealth of PA; or Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements:ALL positions require possession of an active PA Class A or B CDL or equivalent with the Air Brake (L) Restriction removed; ALL positions require possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; ALL employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period; CERTAIN positions may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment; CERTAIN positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. ALL positions are subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.Radio Dispatcher: To be eligible, you must have: Previous clerical or radio dispatching experience, including the utilization of electronic communications equipment and visual display equipment is preferred, but not required. Diesel & Construction Equipment Mechanic: To be eligible, you must have: Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or constructio equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements:ALL positions require a possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License; ALL positions require a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; ALL employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period; CERTAIN positions may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment; CERTAIN positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment; CERTAIN positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. ALL positions are subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.Auto Mechanic To be eligible, you must have: Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: CERTAIN positions include the possession of an active PA license of the class appropriate to the vehicle operated and inspected; ALL positions require possession of an active PA Inspection Mechanic Certification, Class 1 at minimum.Tradesman Helper To be eligible, you must have: Previous experience working with Auto Mechanics is preferred, but not required. Special Requirement: Certain positions require possession of an active non-commercial PA Class C driver's license or equivalent.Semi-Skilled Laborer To be eligible, you must have: One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Tunnel Maintainer To be eligible, you must have: Two years of experience in roadway maintenance and repair, emergency services, towing and roadside assistance, or traffic control work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements:ALL positions require possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations; ALL employees must demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission; ALL employees must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A Commercial; ALL Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed, or equivalent, on their first day of employment; ALL employees must obtain within the probationary period an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders.All positions require applicants to perform the essential job functions.
