Confidential Employer Head Start Substitute in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Capital Area Head Start is seeking Substitutes to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. Substitutes work on an as needed basis. Responsibilities include assisting education staff with classroom activities and routines, implementing daily lesson plans, and ensuring the health and safety of children.
Position Details:
- $15.35 per hour, may increase based on education and/or experience
- Casual/Per Diem, Non Exempt position
- Schedule: Hours between 7:30AM and 4:30PM based on center
- Location: Positions available in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties

Minimum Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to start process to obtain diploma or equivalent within six months of start date and obtain credentials within in two years of employment
Additional Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working with young children or completion of Head Start Hands on Training program and 25 volunteer hours in a classroom setting
- Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and learn web based systems
- Valid driver's license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
- Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in early childhood education
- Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start
- Bi/multi-lingual
