DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, you will be responsible for conducting sanitation inspections at seasonal farm labor camps and various food/milk facilities, including wholesale, retail, manufacturing, dairy, and warehousing establishments. These inspections will also include Food and Drug Administration (FDA) audit inspections. During these inspections, you will utilize your knowledge of food safety and security, as well as various laws, regulations, and policies, to assess compliance. You will independently conduct different types of food safety inspections in a range of establishments, such as produce farms, dairy farms, retail food facilities, manufacturing facilities, milk and egg processing facilities, distribution centers, and warehouses.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in Schuylkill, Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh, or Northampton County. If applicant does not live in Schuylkill, Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh, or Northampton County, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in one of these counties and the workday will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle. Occasional overtime for training and facilities operating on non-work days and outside of work hours. Occasional overnight travel required. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Food Inspector 1, Agriculture (commonwealth title); or Two years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
