DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Assistant Appeals Administrator and Presiding Officer, you will conduct administrative proceedings involving Petitions for Reassessments filed by employers or putative employers in response to Notices of Assessment issued by the Office of UC Tax Services. You will be expected to research, interpret, and apply a wide range of laws and regulations to be utilized when completing duties. In this role, you will be responsible for presiding over hearings as necessary, where you will receive testimony, evidence, and disposition of procedural matters. This position gives you the opportunity to draft prompt and fair decisions based upon a record developed from a hearing, with or without post hearing briefs, or the paper record. You will also be responsible for providing procedural guidance and instruction to interested parties regarding: Scheduling, reconvening, administering of oaths, and issuing subpoenas Ruling on offers of proof and receiving evidence Taking depositions Holding conferences before and during hearings Disposition of procedural matters and motions Reviewing briefs and pleadings filed by parties

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Administrative Officer 2; or Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management budgeting or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
