Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Alcohol Education Specialist Trainee in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4356991 THE POSITION The PA Liquor Control Board is seeking a highly motivated and specialized candidate for our Bureau of Alcohol Education, Education and Grants Management Division. As an Alcohol Education Specialist Trainee, you will participate in a 12-month training program in order to obtain the skills and knowledge to become an Alcohol Education Specialist.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of the twelve-month training program, you will have the opportunity to enhance your technical skills and knowledge in various aspects related to underage and dangerous drinking. This includes understanding the issues surrounding alcohol consumption among minors as well as the development and delivery of alcohol education and outreach services. Additionally, you will gain insights into the legal and regulatory frameworks governing alcohol. Throughout the program, your assignments will be carried out under general supervision, with regular individual meetings and reports to ensure your progress and development. Your role will involve working closely with individuals to develop and execute programs, trainings, and initiatives aimed at reducing underage and dangerous drinking. By collaborating with others, you will have the chance to plan and design effective strategies that promote responsible alcohol consumption among those who are of legal age. This hands-on experience will allow you to make a tangible impact on addressing the issue of underage drinking and contribute to creating a safer environment. In addition to your direct involvement in program development, you will also play a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of statewide bureau programs. This will require you to work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives. Furthermore, you may be required to conduct site visits to monitor compliance with grant agreements, ensuring that the allocated resources are being utilized effectively. This aspect of your role will provide you with valuable insights into the practical implementation of alcohol-related programs and the importance of adherence to grant requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Flexibility needed to work varying days including weekends. Must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid subject to Commonwealth Travel Policy. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with the exception of reporting to the Northwest Office Building on Board meeting dates once every two to three weeks, and as operational needs dictate. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters Northwest Office Building in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation.  An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, er section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code.  Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
