Bark River-Harris Schools School Nurse in Harris, Michigan
Bark River-Harris Schools is looking to fill a School Nurse position.
Posting Requirements:
- Must be licensed as a REGISTERED NURSE in the State of Michigan.
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and two years of professional experience is preferred. A Master's degree in Nursing may be substituted for experience.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promoting mental health awareness with individuals and in classroom settings.
- Provide nutrition, health, and wellness education based on the Michigan Model for Health Curriculum in partnership with outside resources.
- Administers medication, or coordinates the administration of medication by designated staff.
- Collaborate with Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties (PHDM) to determine when to activate the active testing plan.
- Provide medical first aid and emergency support to faculty and staff, as needed and appropriate.
- Stay current on the emerging COVID-19 guidance to appropriately answer questions; stay current on cases in the area.
- In coordination with school administration, keep parents, family, and staff informed by proactively communicating updates on the illness and how to address related stress and anxiety.
- Assist with best practices and protocols surrounding communicable diseases & field trips.
- Provide prevention services related to mental health and wellness, health education, and nutrition.
- Coordinate with local health agencies and medical treatment facilities as necessary.
- Assist in the management of the school's health system database, updating clinic treatment notes daily and ensuring parents review/update student health information.
- Monitors medical conditions of students and staff such as temperatures, seizures, and injuries.
- Follow confidentiality and privacy rules and regulations in all matters.
- Conduct in-service training for staff on proper medical/health care procedures to be utilized in the care of students.
- Confer with students, parents, and teachers regarding student health.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and be a self-starter with the ability to be detail oriented.
- Execute other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Contract Information: A competitive salary of $43,500 will be offered. A comprehensive benefit package will also be provided.
