The Weapons area primarily supports the design, development, production, and integration activities associated with the Paveway IV Weapon Systems.
As a result of new contracts, the engineering team is looking for a motivated Aerodynamics Engineer with a background in aerodynamics analysis and flow physics.
The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility and the successful applicant will report directly to the Project Engineering Lead. The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Defence Business in Raytheon UK, delivering engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.
Main Duties:
Evaluation of weapon system aerodynamic performance using a range of tools, including CFD (ANSYS Fluent)
Collaborating with the wider systems engineering team to support the development of weapon Guidance, Navigation & Control algorithms
Effectively communicate results through presentations, technical reports, and progress meetings with stakeholders.
Develop test plans for model validation activities, including wind tunnel testing
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent
Experience in the analysis of high-speed flows using Computational Fluid Dynamics
Experience in wind tunnel testing and/or flight trials
A solid understanding in the principles of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
Desirable:
Commercial experience in a relevant role
Experience in platform integration assessments and activities
Weapon Systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
