Job Description

Trek Benelux in Harderwijk is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to lead and manage the HR organization in the Benelux region. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence and shape HR strategies while maintaining a hands-on approach to operational HR activities. You will serve as a crucial link between the local Benelux organization and the broader European and U.S. teams, ensuring alignment with global frameworks while adapting HR initiatives to meet local needs.

TREK Bicycle Corporation is a global leader in bicycle products and accessories, with more than 5,600 employees worldwide. Trek is dedicated to building bikes for the riders who inspire us, from the world’s greatest cyclists to the kids next door. This drive for innovation and passion for building and selling bikes has led to rapid expansion. TREK has several offices in the United States, Asia, and Europe. The sales office for the Benelux, along with design and various support functions, is located in Harderwijk. The main European warehouse is in Wijchen. Additionally, we have 13 company-owned stores in the Benelux, with plans for further expansion in the future.

Cycling plays a significant role in TREK’s company culture, but you don’t need to wear Lycra to work here. TREK is a place where passionate people with diverse knowledge come together to create beautiful things.

In this role, you will manage a team of two HR generalists and report to the Finance Director of the Benelux and the European HR Director. Since our people are spread across various locations (Harderwijk, Wijchen, Belgium, and multiple stores), you will be expected to visit these locations regularly.

Your Key Responsibilities:

As an HR Manager, you are visible in the organization and easily engage in conversations with your colleagues. With your pragmatic approach, you will effectively organize the following tasks:

  • Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with business units, providing HR advice on matters such as succession planning, recruitment, remote work, employer branding, absence, employee satisfaction, and personnel activities.

  • HR Administration: Oversee and optimize HR processes, ensuring compliance with Dutch and Belgian employment laws.

  • Review and sign off the monthly payroll through ADP and act as a point of escalation for payroll

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment efforts, focusing on attracting and retaining top talent in the region for our headquarters, the stores and our warehouse.

  • Employee Relations: Manage complex employee relations issues, conduct thorough investigations, and provide day-to-day performance management support to line managers.

  • Ownership for the bi-annual Great Place to Work employee engagement survey including supporting departmental action plans and initiate/facilitate general initiatives, all to drive even more positive employee experience

  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, facilitate executive coaching, and monitor the effectiveness of training programs to ensure objectives are met.

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Transform the HR function from an operational role into a strategic business partner, driving HR initiatives that align with Trek’s business goals.

The Ideal Candidate We Are Looking For Has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Senior HR Generalist or HR Business Partner.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and excellent communication abilities. Fluency in Dutch and English.

  • A results-driven initiator who can balance strategic thinking with operational efficiency and bridge the gap between local needs and global frameworks.

  • Knowledge of WorkDay and ADP is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in fostering a positive workplace culture.

  • Experience in a matrix organization supporting international business units is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, diversity, and Dutch and Belgian employment laws.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

What You Can Expect:

We ask a lot from you, and of course, you will be well rewarded. In addition to contributing to a healthier society, you will receive:

  • A competitive salary

  • Attractive discounts on all Trek products

  • Opportunities for further professional development

  • Time to exercise during work hours

  • A positive, international work environment

Join Trek in shaping the future of our HR organization in the Benelux. If you are a strategic thinker with hands-on experience and ready to take the next step in your HR career, we would love to hear from you.

If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
