Equinor North Development Program 2025 - Technical Safety Engineer in Hammerfest, Norway
What does the job involve?
Responsible for developing and maintaining safety management elements in a life cycle context for major accident preventions, resulting in technical and organizational solutions to effectively eliminate, minimize, or otherwise mitigate risk to personnel, environment, and asset. The main disciplines are technical safety, safety risk assessment, human factors and organisational safety, operational safety, and emergency preparedness and equipment. Governance shall be based on technical and professional standards and relevant industry best practices, supported by state-of-the-art systems, processes, methods and tools to support decision making processes.
You are utilizing your knowledge in a specific area to carry out tasks that have a short-term operational impact/risk. You independently complete assigned work, either with limited guidance or by following well-defined guidelines and procedures, in order to achieve targets set by others that have an impact on your immediate team as well as other work areas.
This position is part of the North Development program. You will receive a development and learning opportunity and be given stretch tasks and responsibility at an early stage. Your first three years in this role may see you on an exchange between our northern Norway locations.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
Become either a Project Engineer or an Integrity Engineer, supporting operation, maintenance and modifications across our onshore plants in Norway:
As a Project Engineer your tasks include support, challenge, and follow-up of modification projects to improve safety, performance and quality in a cost- effective way.
As an Integrity Engineer your tasks include technical support to operations, and evaluation and follow up the integrity of technical safety barriers, systems and equipment on our plants.
Use your discipline expertise to solve challenges, and contribute to standardized solutions, competence building, continuous improvements, and best practices within technical safety.
Our Technical Safety competence center consists of over 40 highly competent and motivated technical safety experts that work with a varied set of tasks such as operational support, integrity management and follow-up of modifications and projects. We also have colleagues in our team working in the Safety Technology technical ladder across all of Equinor’s business areas. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in technical safety, or in another relevant technical discipline such as; process, mechanical or automation.Completed degree by no later than August 2025.
No more than 3 years full time work experience.
Some experience with technical integrity, maintenance or project support is a plus.
Experience or knowledge of all or some of the following technical safety areas of competence is advantageous: active fire protection, passive fire protection, escape, evacuation and rescue, and layout design principles and explosion barriers.
Experience with risk management (ALARP, HAZID, HAZOP), and ability to identify, communicate, and manage risk is a plus.
Fluency in a Scandinavian language (both written and spoken) and good communication skills in English.
Willingness to live in Hammerfest.
