Janicki Industries Inc. Safety Specialist (Weekend Shift) in Hamilton, Washington

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Safety Specialist to join our growing team.

This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

Shift:  Friday - Monday, 10 hours/day.  There is a $2 shift differential for all hours worked on the weekend shift.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Safety Specialist works with the EHS team to establish a positive safety culture at Janicki Industries.  The main location will be at our Hamilton site.  However, there will be some travel to perform trainings at our Hwy20 site as well.  This position works with all levels of employees within the company to ensure compliance with internal, local, state, and federal regulations.

 

The following essential job functions are performed as a Safety Specialist:

  • Reviews and analyzes incident data and recommends solutions.
  • Conducts job hazard analysis and ergonomics evaluations.
  • Facilitates the transfer of safety best practices across multiple facilities.
  • Works with operations to ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Monitors processes for adherence to OSHA and L&I guidelines.
  • Coordinates and conducts EHS training.
  • Analyzes data, prepares reports, and communicates to senior management.
  • Monitors hazardous waste activities and accumulation areas.
  • Continuously improves JI's safety program.
  • Facilitates workplace safety incident reporting and leads team approach on investigations.
  • Conducts root cause analysis of EHS related incidents.  Assigns and tracks corrective actions.
  • Promotes EHS awareness through internal correspondence, specific training programs and company communication boards.
  • Manages relationships with workers compensation, medical resources, and employees.
  • Provides support for Safety Programs, to include; Energy Control, Fall Protection, Ergonomics, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Crane and Forklift operations, etc.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • HS diploma. College degree or 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience in workplace safety and compliance.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills.  Must have the ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written forms with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Possesses comprehensive PC skills, including MS Office (Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint).  Able to learn and use new systems.
  • Is a self-starter.  Able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Is able to work effectively both as an individual contributor or part of a larger team.
  • Ability to work off/split shifts as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Wage range for this role is between $20 - $40 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The
