AT THE CARMEN'S EVENT CENTRE OUR GENERAL LABOURERS:

Support the Maintenance and Set Up team to provide a comfortable and safe guest environment by maintaining property environment, completing preventative maintenance requirements, responding to emergencies, accommodating guests and vendors to ensure satisfaction, and ensuring continuance of optimal service.  

Play a vital role in the success of our events.

OUR GENERAL LABOURERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Ensure the event property is clean, and all amenities are functioning properly.

  • Assist with event set up (special effect lights, DJ set up, pyro for entrances, first dance and the sound system) as well as event spaces (moving, arranging and setting up furniture as per the BEO) and tear down of tables changes, and decor after the event commences.

  • Indoor maintenance of the property including but not limited to: painting, minor plumbing fixes, bulb and battery changes within guest spaces.

  • Outdoor maintenance of the property, ensuring cleanliness and upkeep for guest appeal and safety including but not limited to: snow removal, and landscaping and overall cleanliness).

  • Ensure fire safety materials and equipment are accessible and fully functioning.

  • Assist the maintenance team with preventative jobs as required, routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.

  • Ladder work within the property including cleaning of high fixtures.

  • Identify and provide updates on maintenance issues/needs and improvements within the property.

  • Utilize inventory tracking system of equipment, cleaning products, tools etc.

  • Assist with office moves and deliveries of furniture; assist with loading and unloading deliveries when required.

  • Clean venue, offices and washrooms, including annual stripping/waxing of floors as needed.

  • Participate in safety discussions with the team and ensure priority areas are addressed quickly.

GENERAL LABOUR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Positive, outgoing and friendly team player

  • 1-2 years of previous property maintenance experience preferred

  • Experience with hand tools

  • Comfortable working from heights

  • Basic painting skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

  • Results oriented and self motivated

  • Enjoys a fast paced environment

  • Knowledge of audio/video equipment and controllers an asset

  • Working flexible hours to meet business needs, including weekends, holidays, early mornings and late nights.
