Summary of Job Function
Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients; identifies a plan of care; implements and evaluates the care given
Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement
Coordinates and directs care given by other team members
Addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality and efficient care
Delegates appropriately to other team members
Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required
Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure
A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in critical care required
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required through the American Heart Association
Registered Nurse with a current State of New Jersey RN license
Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required
Job-Specific Requirements of Position (including, but not limited to)
Participates in discharge planning
Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems
Proactively involves the healthcare team to reduce length of stay and utilization of resources Participates in discharge planning
Completes admission assessment according to policy
Reassesses patient condition per policy
Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the plan of care
Assesses patient for the potential risk factors
Responds effectively in an emergency situation so that the patient s immediate needs are addressed
Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers
