About the role

You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and efficient 1st line support service to all Activate Group employees. This covers varied aspect of IT administration from end user support to installing, configuring & maintaining IT and Infrastructure equipment. You will also be involved in Key Projects for improvement strategies. You will be interested in emerging technology and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Managing various support requests prioritising accordingly while keeping end user experience at the forefront of your mind is key in this role. This role will be based in the Halifax office.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing in person and remote 1st line queries and support on workstation, telecoms and applications across all AGL UK based sites in a timely fashion.

  • Act as a point of contact for internal staff, triaging and prioritizing incoming support requests via phone, email, or ticketing system. Log incidents and service requests, ensuring accurate documentation and resolution tracking

  • Recognise critical issues and escalate accordingly to 2nd line support.

  • Installing software and patches across workstations.

  • Assist in routine maintenance tasks, such as updating software applications, running system diagnostics, and performing regular backups to ensure data integrity and security.

  • Supporting management information and reporting preparing and developing ideas for improvements.

  • Assist with keeping asset registers up to date.

  • Help maintain company intranet platform.

  • Working towards improving efficiencies within the group by helping automate tasks.

  • Help set up and configure workstations, laptops, peripherals, and other IT equipment for new employees or office relocations.

  • Ensuring software compliance across the group keeping track of all licencing.

  • Maintaining and updating documentation detailing current infrastructure.

Skills and experience

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

  • Hardworking and can-do attitude

  • Good communication skills

  • Foundational Understanding concepts of WAN/LAN and Wireless Networks

  • Good understanding of hardware (Workstations/Servers/Printers/Projectors)

  • Solution-orientated looking to get to the bottom of an issue and use initiative

  • Flexible and Collaborative approach to tasks.

  • A strong passion for technology and a desire to pursue a career in IT support.
