Position: Sr Principal Engineer - Solutions Architect – Backend IoT Applications
Overview: The Sr. Principal Engineer - Solutions Architect – Backend IoT Applications will work within the Connected Solutions engineering group to design, implement and test cloud-based applications to enable enhanced levels of machine connectivity and control. The team member will play a crucial role of developing and maintaining applications which manage the consumption and egress of data within the cloud infrastructure. This role is a hybrid role within the Global Product Development team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Connected Solutions engineering group to design and implement backend IoT applications.
Develop geospatial solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity.
Utilize strong proficiency in C#, SQL, and JavaScript.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Evaluate new Internet of Things (IoT) products and practices and identify software system designs and solutions.
Plan, develop, and implement improvements and changes to existing architecture and applications.
Coordinate system development and execution in a team environment.
Provide direction and technical counsel to lower-level developers and software engineers.
Research, study, and propose use of new software/technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products and features.
Prepare technical solution design proposals and presentations.
Qualifications:
Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience.
Proficiency in Java programming language.
Proficiency in Sprint Boot or Quarkus web frameworks
Knowledge of Contexts and Dependency Injection (CDI) in Java
Experience w/ one or more major cloud platforms (e.g. Azure/AWS/Vercel)
Experience w/ SQL (e.g., Azure SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
Experience w/ CI/CD tools and test automation.
Experience w/ DevOps tools and principles.
Experience w/ Agile development methodology and tools (e.g. Jira).
Preferred Skills:
Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
Web-based application experience for storing and accessing complex ‘big’ data.
Understanding of common IoT architectures and tools.
System design considering cybersecurity and SecOps principles.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience with automotive or heavy-duty construction/industrial equipment data.
Familiarity with Azure cloud tools, including Azure Data Explorer.
Ability to thrive in a startup-like culture, excel in ambiguous situations, and embrace technical challenges.
