Job Summary:

We’re looking for a hands-on engineer that can adapt and learn new web technologies quickly. In this role, you’ll be in an Agile environment working closely with our Product and Business partners on a cutting-edge new application framework supporting front desk operations at thousands of properties worldwide. You will take day to day direction from a seasoned team of backend engineers who will rely on you to provide timely updates and advice on future direction. You will also be working with several other groups from a variety of different areas including Infra, UI, and Backend to improve process and architecture in addition to delivering this new framework and supporting it long term. This role requires you to work with many different service providers both onshore and offshore so flexibility with your hours is often necessary. Not only will you be delivering and enhancing applications, you will also be supporting them so experience with monitoring and alerting tools is highly desirable. We operate within an AWS environment so you will need a good understanding of how various AWS toolkits work as well as container management through Docker and Kubernetes. Linux command line expertise is a must.

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in custom application development on open-source technologies

  • Hands on Experience and knowledge of Microservice Architecture, Cloud-Native Application Development, Containerization, Event-Driven Architecture

  • Experience in using Enterprise Integration Patterns with designing, building, and deploying Messaging Solutions. Kafka experience is a big plus.

  • Experience in Server-side Java, REST, SOAP, Spring Cloud, Spring

  • Ability to write efficient and robust Java code for high volume applications

  • Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills

  • Experience working in an Agile environment with regular Jira updates

  • Experience using Kubernetes and/or Docker

  • Experience with AWS toolkits

  • Linux command line

Preferred:

  • Experience in NoSql Databases (Redis, Elasticache)

  • Experience working on UI Technologies like Node.js is an added advantage

  • Experience with authoring test cases using a test-driven approach

  • CI/CD experience with Harness and/or Jenkins

  • Monitoring and alerting tools experience with Dynatrace and/or Splunk

Technical Leadership

  • Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate

  • Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested

Delivering Technology

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

  • Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers

  • Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning

  • Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes

  • Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  • Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development

  • Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels

  • Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure Delivery teams for deployment and production support activities

  • Follows all defined technology standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed

  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk

  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes

Service Provider Management

  • Validates that Service Providers are delivering per planned sprint and working to increase velocity during a PI.

  • Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources

  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes

  • Reviews estimates of work effort provided by Service Providers for accuracy and feasibility

  • Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients

The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $179,270 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
