The IMPACS Systems Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day operation for the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS).

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a IMPACS Systems Analyst at Hackensack MeridianHealthincludes:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and pre-fetching and other related activities.

  • Creates, maintains, and assigns PACS user profile accounts. Oversees system(s) security as required by maintaining and changing passwords to ensure confidentiality. Provides continue support by protecting patient's rights as well as employee and organizational information.

  • Identifies hardware or software problems and takes steps to resolve them quickly.

  • Provides face-to-face, telephone, or online help to users to resolve PACS equipment condition, PACS software and hardware problems.

  • Provides training to users to ensure efficient and effective use of the PACS equipment and software.

  • Directs and coordinates with ancillary PACS personnel to maximize equipment upkeep. Records and documents such upkeep and makes replacement recommendations based on equipment condition.

  • Coordinates and schedules PACS downtime for maintenance and system upgrades minimizing the impact on Radiology workflow.

  • Maintains data integrity and synchronization with other Medical Center system.

  • Updates splits, changes, merges, and deletes studies upon proper written request maintaining a record of all such changes.

  • Inspects new area designated for PACS equipment deployment and makes recommendations on site preparation and initiates network access requests.

  • Provides training and occasionally assist ancillary PACS personnel on preparing workstations and PC for conference, printing, and other PACS related work.

  • Assists physicians in obtaining images for conferences and presentations following information access and confidentiality hospital procedures.

  • Monitors, analyzes, resolves, and reports on unread studies found on PACS.

  • Renders service and/or assistance to all patients depending on the individual needs and the abilities to moving, turning, getting on and off of the x-rays tables, etc.

  • Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.

  • Responsible for scheduled shifts.

  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal school or Radiologic Technology.

  • Three years technologist experience.

  • Basic understanding of operating systems software (Windows 95/98/2000/XP/NT) and Web browser use (Internet Explorer of Netscape Navigator).

  • Must be able to perform CPR.

  • Maintains CEU Credits.

  • Member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

    Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Familiarity with specific radiology information systems applications.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Diagnostic Radiography License.
