Corporate Units HR:

The Corporate Units HR team is part of the broader BT HR function led by the Chief HR Officer

The overarching objective of the Corporate Units HR is to:

  • Design and deliver the People Strategy for the various corporate units, aligned to the Business Strategy and people priorities, ensuring a fit for purpose structure and people organisation to deliver against the units’ goals and purpose

  • Ensure cyclical people processes and interventions are delivered, to ensure we can attract and retain motivated, talented and high performing teams

  • Partner with Group HR and CFU HR teams to scale impactful people interventions one across BT Group

Abour the role:

Customer Facing Units Business Services (CFU BS) is a function of c. 4000 colleagues and sits within the broader Group Business Services unit, as part of the Finance and Business Services Unit. The role leads a team of HR Business Partners and partners with the CFU BS MD and the leadership team on the delivery of the people strategy. The role also sits on the India HR Leadership Team and leads and contributes towards country HR priorities and leads project teams pan India.

As a result of transformation change taking place across the organisation, the HR Business Partners in this space are at the forefront of critical business transformations. This role is critical in executing and driving strategic people initiatives, providing great counsel to senior leaders and driving functional excellence. The role requires flexibility between strategic people and business guidance to the leadership, whilst ensuring the unique people operational requirements are delivered. Candidates therefore must be highly robust, thorough, engaging and inspiring.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for accelerated personal and professional development, partnering with senior in country leadership and working pan India and pan Corporate Units on a number of strategic people and finance business priorities.

Key elements of the role include:

Strategic HR

  • You will own the strategic business partner relationship with the CFU Business Services leadership teams, working across organisational boundaries where necessary to drive and implement strategic HR solutions. You will deliver long term sustained change and/or cultural shifts in the organisation.

  • You will have overall responsibility for the strategic people plans and implementation across CFU Business Services and contribute the the overall plan and specific elements of the Group Business Services People Plan globally

  • You will use data and broad thinking to evidence and guide decision making at strategic and operational levels.

  • You will coach senior leaders within your business function to build and develop leadership capability.

  • You will take the lead in embedding transformation and change agendas in your unit.

  • You will deliver end to end programmes to resolve complex business issues, applying external best practice across a range of HR disciplines, policy and processes.

  • Lead any operating model and organisation design changes, location strategies and ways of working programmes

  • Partner with GBS HRBPs and GBS HR COEs to deliver strategic GBS people priorities

Operational HR

  • Accountable for stewarding, leading and partnering with the business, ensuring all business activities are carried out in accordance with local legislative requirements, which enhance and protect BT for now and the future

  • Deliver across a range of HR practices and life cycle activities such as reward, workforce planning, performance, employee engagement, and talent & leadership development and employee relations to meet current and future workforce needs.

Country HR

  • Project lead across pan-BT India HR programmes

  • Member of the India HR Leadership Team, contributing to India BT-wide people projects and India HR talent reviews, development interventions and engagement activities

Leadership

  • Create a customer service culture across the team, owning issues to resolution and identifying improvement opportunities to enhance the customer experience.

  • Builds, leads and inspires a highly capable, experienced and diverse HRBP team in CFU BS and across the India HR team.

  • Ensures the team is engaged with clear objectives and targeted development plans

  • Provides advice, mentoring and coaching to the broader India HR team.

  • Drives knowledge sharing on emerging trends and changes in HR and within GCCs

Key Skills & Experience Required:

The ideal candidate will have had significant experience in a senior HR Business Partner role partnering with a large global stakeholder group, ideally working within a matrix environment in a multinational company or GCC environment.

Experience

  • Significant experience of senior stakeholder management, demonstrating ability to work closely with and partner the business within a highly complex, global and challenging environment.

  • Track record of delivering bespoke tailored HR services within a complex commercial environment.

  • Experience of having delivered or significantly contributed to complex HR change or transformation programmes – incl org design, collective & global consultations and implementation

  • Experience partnering GCC / customer facing business units

  • Experience managing and leading HR professionals

  • Commercial Acumen : Strong financial and commercial acumen, excellent commercial judgement and a strong risk radar

  • Compliance and risk mitigation: You guide others in the adherence to all internal and external regulatory and legal guidance. You provide consultation and advice to stakeholders to help them measure, manage and mitigate risks.

  • Policy and practice: You anticipate and recognise obstacles in policies and processes between teams. You make suggestions for ongoing improvements, facilitating relationships between teams.

  • Transformation change: Makes change happen – initiates strategic change to meet business goals in a simple, personal and practical way.

  • System thinking: You provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology. You think through the whole systems context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects

  • Data Analytics: Brings thought leadership and data analytics skills to gather data to formulate business insight and solutions.

  • HR Mastery & employment law: strong technical HR knowledge and its practical application

  • Ambiguity: Easily able to navigate complexity and/or ambiguity and at pace by drawing on their considerable experience.

  • DE&I: Demonstrates good understanding of how to support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and their impact within the business.

  • Pace & Agility: Ability to work at pace under competing priorities and continue delivering to a high standard
