Software Quality Assurance Summary

The SQA will be responsible for the Functional and Non-functional Testing and Quality Assurance of the application development process of our proprietary data intake platform by executing and developing automated test cases using behavioral driven testing methodology.

The OneView360 Development team at S&P Global, is a visionary and curious group that is boldly focused on the future. Team is responsible to enhance and support the data ingest platform processing and enhancing the data. The team consists of 21 team members including Developers, BA/SQAs, Technical Managers and Architects. Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Able to grasp complex business concepts and translate them to requirements using examples, text, pictures, etc.

  • Writes requirements that are actionable by the development team, maps the requirements to test cases, creates the test cases and supports or assists in quality assurance activities.

  • Participate in road mapping exercises to develop opportunities that address S& P business needs.

  • Use knowledge and experience to understand information needs of the business unit/domain as well as system capability to determine best delivery solutions to meet the needs.

  • Work with the developers and other team members and manage to design and deliver innovative platform solutions that solve complex business needs.

  • Defining the business needs and objectives for integration into the Products developed by SPGI Mobility Development team. Fill in all the gaps between business requests and development needs.

  • Use the project tracking and testing tools within the Development group to both capture the requirements and Test Cases in one place.

  • Follow Agile development approach defined and executed by the Technical Manager and work closely with the team to define the appropriate test plan.

  • Own the quality assurance from the beginning of the business idea to final testing of the production release.

Job Description

  • Able to grasp complex business concepts and translate them to requirements through the use of examples, text, pictures, etc.

  • Writes requirements that are actionable by the development team, maps the requirements to test cases, creates the test cases and supports or assists in quality assurance activities.

  • Under the leadership and tactical guidance of a project or team leader, incumbents in this position collaborate with business, sales, marketing, customer care, and development and use their understanding of platform level details and standards to help build solutions to meet business line needs. Incumbents use their knowledge from across the full delivery spectrum of systems to determine best solutions.

  • This position works closely with Business Leaders, Product Managers and Technical Managers throughout the whole life cycle of technical projects.

General Job Duties

  • Participate in road mapping exercises to develop opportunities that address IHS’ business needs.

  • Use knowledge and experience to understand information needs of the business unit/domain as well as system capability to determine best delivery solutions to meet the needs.

  • Work with the developers and other team members and manage to design and deliver innovative platform solutions that solve complex business needs.

  • Establish testing criteria to ensure application is thoroughly tested prior to release. Perform level of follow up testing to insure quality of deliverables

  • Perform other duties as required.

Specific Job Duties

  • Defining the business needs and objectives for integration into the Products developed by SPGI Mobility Development team. Fill in all the gaps between business requests and development needs,

  • Use the project tracking and testing tools within the Development group to both capture the requirements and Test Cases in one place.

  • Work with different products on different projects throughout the year.

  • Define the requirements for a product as defined by the Product Owner in the business line.

  • Follow Agile development approach defined and executed by the Technical Manager and work closely with the team to define the appropriate test plan.

  • Write and define acceptance criteria in partnership with the Project development team.

  • Own the quality assurance from the beginning of the business idea to final testing of the production release.

  • Use knowledge of the business line and the development platform to propose innovative solutions for complex delivery problems.

  • Technically complex solutions

  • Data analysis skills

  • Complex data types and translation of BRs to functional reqs.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Must have 5 years of experience in software testing life cycle, transforming business concept and challenges to concrete business requirements for development teams.

  • Must have experience in SQL (3 years) and PL/SQL.

  • Must be able to think critically, quick learner and can troubleshoot complex issues efficiently in right direction.

  • Use the project tracking and testing tools within the Development group to both capture the requirements and Test Cases in one place.

  • Write and define acceptance criteria in partnership with the Project development team.

  • Establish testing criteria to ensure application is thoroughly tested prior to release. Perform level of follow up testing to ensure quality of deliverables.

  • Knowledge of AWS services like S3, Glue, EC2, lambda and others.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge in automation testing will be a plus.

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports Product Leader.

  • Interacts with management in business units/domains supported.

  • Acts in a lead capacity on small to medium deliverables, but has no direct supervisory responsibility.

  • Develop partnerships with internal cross-functional staff

  • Interacts with other colleagues at all levels in the conduct of day-to-day activities.

External Relationships

  • Primary contacts are internal to the organization.

  • Trouble shoots platform issues with external customers if needed. Supports customer care on customer requests if needed.

  • Potential participates in external customer usability testing or training
