The primary responsibility of Software Engineer Lead is to develop software solutions in accordance with assigned projects and sprint goal. They will also works closely with the Technical Manager and Project Manager/Scrum Master towards backlog and user story refinement. Senior Software Engineer shall have deep and mature understanding of complete software development life cycle and shall possess demonstrable ability to work independently.

Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. With every role in the company, each position has a requirement for building quality into every output. This also includes evaluating new tools, new techniques, strategies; Automation of common tasks; build of common utilities to drive organizational efficiency with a passion around technology and solutions and influence of thought and leadership on future capabilities and opportunities to apply technology in new and innovative ways.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyzes and investigates

• Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise

• Software Development - Complete programming and system analysis tasks as assigned by Technical Manager

• Design and Estimate - Based on requirement definitions, recommend solutions with pros and cons. Create design documents with estimates of time to complete

• Work with Technical Manager to review requirements and design documents to ensure that project deliverables are met

• Project Delivery - Identify and communicate issues or risks with project deliverables

• Willing and actively seek areas of applications and products to take ownership and accountability

• Recommend possible technical solutions for issues and/or problems encountered when work on a project

• Application Support - On an as needed basis, provide user support for business applications. Effectively communicate with users to answer questions and resolve urgent requests

• Advise the Technical Manager on information technology matters

• Work with less experienced staff in mentor role to help them improve their development skills and craft

• Bring “continuous improvement” and learning mindset to the team and encourage learning and professional growth in others

• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

• 5 - 7 years IT experience in a software development environment

• Experience in system design and building secure distributed applications

• Proven analysis, design, and programming experience

• Experience in project management

• Solid technical knowledge in Microsoft .NET and related technologies

• Ability to understand database structures and be able to manipulate, extract, and update data

• Proven to possess excellent written and oral communication skills

• Technology Skills:

• Extensive experience in web services, Web Api, RESTful services, microservices and API security best practices

• Experience developing windows services

• Experience creating stored procedure, database views, triggers, indexes

• Understand the concepts and best practices of DevOps and modern CI/CD

• Clear and demonstrable understanding of Object Oriented Programming and distributed system architecture

• .NET, C#, ASP.NET

• JavaScript, TypeScript, JQuery

• CSS3, HTML5, AngularJS, Angular 15+, and other modern web development frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technology Skills:

• .NET Framework 3.5 - 4.8, .NET Core, and .NET 5+ Service-Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Service Bus – NServiceBus, MSMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka

• SOLID principles, Enterprise Design Patterns, Event Driven Architecture

• NUnit, Test Driven Development (TDD)

• NHibernate, Dapper, Entity Framework or equivalent ORM experience

• IIS (or equivalent)

• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SRSS)

• Agile development experience using SCRUM

• XML, XSLT, PowerShell

Additional Experience

• Ability to follow and adhere to UnitedHealthcare Student Resources programming standards

• Ability to quickly analyze requirements and recommend multiple solutions with pros and cons

• Ability to see the big picture and the impact of changes to all parts of the system. Ability to quickly code and test the changes
