Western Colorado University Lecturer In History in Gunnison, Colorado

Job Description:

Western Colorado University invites applications for one-year Lecturer position in History beginning August 2024.

General area of specialization is Global Europe but additional fields outside of US, Africa and Latin America are of interest especially experience or specialization in Digital History and/or Public History. Teaching load is 24 semester credits per academic year (4 courses per semester) and assisting with the History League, program recruitment and the development of Digital and/or Public History projects. There is also the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative courses in their area of expertise. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon strong performance and funding availability.

The History Program at Western Colorado University is part of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The Program has 2 full-time faculty members and approximately 45 Majors and three tracts: Standard History major, Secondary Licensure, and Public History. We are looking for innovative forward-thinking faculty to help modernize our History program offerings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in History, Public History or Digital History, evidence of teaching excellence and a demonstrated ability to work collegially in a student-centered learning environment while building relationships with external constituents that benefit students. Strong candidates with ABD status may be considered for appointment.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary range is $48,000 - $50,000 per year. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
