We are seeking someone with a wide experience in Mobile Comms and telecommunications in general to be the capability lead for our connectivity and telecommunications design within the Systems and Infrastructure (S&I) Group of the Intelligent Infrastructure Business. You will be responsible for supporting the overarching Technical Strategy; articulating the market conditions, clients and opportunities for growth across the sectors WSP operates in. The Connectivity Lead will also develop a team of telecoms engineers to meet the market and take accountability for the quality of output from the team.

You are a systems thinker that can elevate yourself above the detail to see the wider problems and develop and lead solutions that the client loves. A person that leads at a client level and can enthuse and motivate staff at all levels in the organisation.

You will lead one of several capabilities that combine to create value for clients in technical and human centred disciplines.

This year the WSP Intelligent Infrastructure business will be formulating its strategy for 2025 – 27. Your Team…

This role sits within the Intelligent Infrastructure business, Systems and Infrastructure which comprises capability in, Technology Strategy Advice; Systems Engineering; Data; Architecture; Solutions; Cyber Security; Connectivity, and Digital Infrastructure Design. You will report to the Deputy Group Technical Director.

Your Role - Leadership

  • Technical leadership in 5G & Connectivity and driving technical excellence.

  • Articulate the value of Connectivity. (What it does and why),

  • Promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

  • Create positive, inclusive and beneficial relationships with the other Capability Leads (peers in S&I Group) to create an integrated S&I offer in service, product and skills.

  • Coordination with the Growth Director, Growth Partners and other Capability Leads to communicate and develop fee earning opportunities.

  • Provision of overall Capability leadership under the direction of the Group Technical Director.

  • The demonstration of leadership in Health, Safety, Inclusivity and Diversity, with a commitment to a Zero Harm culture.

Your Role - Technical

  • Own, develop and execute the S&I Groups connectivity strategy and road map.

  • Responsible for setting the technical objectives for Connectivity.

  • Contribute to the Group’s over-arching Technical Strategy.

  • Technical assurance of Connectivity output from S&I.

  • Maintaining the technical competency in Connectivity Capability in S&I.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Experience of building at team with technical skills.

  • Recognised locally, regionally and nationally as a technical expert in telecommunications Engineering, Design or advice.

  • Work winning, writing winning bids

  • Routinely creates, builds and sustains meaningful professional relationships.

  • Excellent communications skills via industry papers, social media activity and compelling presentations.
