JOB SUMMARYAn Engineer III will have started focusing their engineering development toward a specific competency or industry. They will be an expert in process and use of at least one CAD package associated with their discipline and possesses an understanding of multiple others within their discipline. At this level they will start working closely with other disciplines, understanding the interaction and dependency between them. They will be able to drive other project team members, within their discipline, to solve problems and overcome hurdles that may affect project timelines. Will have previous involvement of releasing a product into a manufacturing environment.Design Engineer (Electrical)Should be able to develop system architecture and perform complex circuit design unassisted from start to finish. Be able to direct PCB layout, represent electrical design in a cross functional review and work with the appropriate engineers to transfer the final product into manufacturing. Should be familiar with project management processes, scheduling and project milestones in order to drive their portions of design to meet or beat project schedules.Design Engineer (Software)Able to independently design, development, document, debug and test software and/or firmware on hardware platforms. Will be able to review code, structure, documentation and test plans developed by others. Should have a good understanding of multiple programming languages. Will be familiar with project management processes, scheduling and project milestones in order to drive their portions of design to meet or beat project schedules.

/LPDesign Engineer (Mechanical)Will be able to design complex mechanical parts and subsystems unassisted from start to finish. Will have a good understanding of commonly used manufacturing and tooling processes and how to effectively design parts for them. Will have a good understanding of Design for Assembly. Should be familiar with project management processes, scheduling and project milestones in order to drive their portions of design to meet or beat project schedules.Design Engineer (DFX)Able to drive DFX results and processes into multiple teams (Electrical, Mechanical, ECAD) to include analysis from PCB to HLA level (DFF, DFM, DFA). Able to asses, provide information, and drive change into the governing global DFX rules & guidelines. Be able to interpret requirements and determine options for optimization, assess impact to design cost, assembly methods or times, risk for implementation, and assess design implementation or design modifications of existing product. Must be knowledgeable in manufacturing processes and equipment for given manufacturing area. Should be familiar with project management processes, scheduling and project milestones in order to provide design analysis to meet or beat project schedules.Component EngineerAble to assess and provide design strategy for electrical and electro-mechanical components and BOM’s to include consideration of supply chain overall risk, adherence to corporate strategy, suitability for use in design, cost, and risks. Requires the ability to understand design requirements and determine options for optimization, assess impact to design cost, and risk for implementation. Must possess understanding of part selection impact across multiple disciplines, i.e. manufacturing, mechanical. Must be knowledgeable across electrical part commodities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Electrical & Mech) A complete understanding of at least one CAD design tool and familiarity with multiple others and the processes surrounding the use of them.· (Electrical & Mech) At the appropriate process phase gates, provide a complete design package to be entered into our PDM system· (Software) Develop and or review complete software documentation including test & validation plans.· (Software) Competent in multiple high level programming languages & compilers and experienced in the use of specific In-circuit emulators.· (Software) Solid demonstrated programming and debugging skills. Job Description for Design Engineer (Textile Integration)

  • The Design Engineer works in a team that designs and develops textile-based wearable device technology. He/she creates and/or assists in new engineering designs, extracts requirements, and determines steps to implement reference design implementation or design modifications of existing product. This role applies creativity, technical skills, sound engineering principles, and best practices to design, manufacture, and test for textile-based products. He/she oversees the device/product through its lifecycle from concept and specification development to detailed engineering, testing and risk management; has an excellent understanding of product development cycle and design process.

  • In addition, Design Engineer should be able to design mechanical parts/subsystems unassisted from start to finish. Should be able to perform a variety of applicable manual analysis and design of experiments for problem solving and decision making. Should be familiar with commonly used manufacturing and tooling processes in apparel industry and how to effectively design parts for them. This individual works effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment, self-directed, and will focus on customer success, device excellence, and program results. Should be familiar with project management processes, scheduling, and project milestones to drive their portions of design to meet or beat project schedules.

  • He/she will travel overseas to transfer and support prototyping, and manufacturing implementations. Understand feedbacks and explain design considerations to NPI and other design/development teams for newly developed processes and or products. He/she will gain good understanding of commonly used manufacturing and tooling processes in this emerging wearable industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and manage device engineering specifications, including 3D CAD data, part, and assembly prints, BOM’s, materials, sourced components, etc.

  • Help in the design of the device and develops it with DFx applied.

  • Ensure the device meets technical requirements (function, performance, safety)

  • Assess design implementation or design modifications of existing device.

  • Design and develop innovative manufacturing process/es for mass production of the wearable device.

  • Design and develop validation test plans to use in the development of the device and identify any areas which may cause a problem during the assembly stage.

  • Sample different materials or components and conduct evaluations and results analysis to choose which best suits the requirements of the application.

  • Design tooling used in the process development, prototyping, and mass production with DFM in mind.

  • Review and assess requirements and determine options for optimization, impact to design cost, to assembly methods or times, and to risk of implementation.

  • Provide onsite technical support for all manufacturing builds including engineering prototypes, NPI & production releases.

  • Stay abreast of the latest material and process technologies to keep innovating in designs and processes that are competitive and cost effective.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Proficient at SolidWorks CAD (PTC Creo a plus).

  • Previous involvement in commercializing a product and releasing into a manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Experience working or very good familiarity with processing thermoplastics such as 2D/3D lamination, roll-to-roll lamination, LASER cutting, die cutting, ultrasonic welding, printing and coating, thermoforming, vacuum forming, insert moulding, injection moulding, and machining.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin is a must as the successful candidate will liaise with customer counterparts.

  • Experience with wearable technology involving textiles and integration of electronics preferred.
