Security Operations Officer (Dispatcher)

Location: Groton, CT

Schedule: Friday to Monday 2pm - 10pm

Pay: $20.00 (90 Day Probation)

Security Operations Officer Requirements:

• Active Connecticut State Guard Card

• Active Connecticut State Driver's License & Personal Transportation

• High School Diploma or GED

• Previous Military/Law Enforcement Experience Desired

• 2 years of Security Experience

• 1 year of Dispatch Experience

Securitas plays an essential role for our clients and in society. The Security Operations Officer is one of the first lines of defense against risk to property and personnel. This person most often will be the first to be aware of events that may escalate into major adverse situations. It is the ability of the Security Operations Officer to act decisively and thoroughly to minimize the impact of the site and the persons therein. A Security Operations Officer will coordinate security, medical, and fire emergency responses for site security and the on-site fire department, and by their direction we will notify client management as well as contacting outside agencies for assistance.

JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the security services and related operations provided to an assigned account including client service and problem resolution, service enhancement and expansion, new business development, operational effectiveness, preparation of post orders, staffing, scheduling, supervision, and training.

Employees are held accountable for successful job performance. Job performance standards may be documented separately, and may include functions, objectives, duties, or tasks not specifically listed herein.

• Monitor and report on weather conditions that may have an adverse effect at the facility

• Update oncoming shift personnel regarding information pertinent to the conduct of shift operations

• Coordinate response to emergencies

• Write clear and concise daily reports detailing incidents or emergencies at the facility

• Work within an established chain of command for the purpose of receiving assignments, performing job task, and reporting incidents or occurrences at the facility

• Use effective communication skills to relay information and direct personnel, to ensure compliance with rules and procedures that are required.

• Tracking/Reporting confined space entries and hazardous reactions to the appropriate client contacts.

• Monitoring several different fire systems and coordinating with on-site fire department and Groton Security Response Officers for testing.

• Monitoring access control to both Groton and New Haven sites, both on-site and off-site facilities.

• Monitoring security and access control alarms and dispatching out accordingly make overhead PA announcements throughout the site as necessary

• Perform morning radio checks with various groups to ensure system is in working order

• Answering and routing routine calls and properly dispatched for results

• If required for assigned accounts, must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.

• Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned accounts.

• Knowledge of security operations and procedures.

• Skill in staff supervision, including assigning work and providing training and discipline.

• Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.

• Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.

• Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands): With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:

• Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

• Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey.

• Ability to oversee multiple tasks concurrently.

• Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.

• May require regular use of vehicle and frequent travel in the performance of duties.

• Regular talking and hearing.

• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

• Walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

• Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

• Conducting oral presentations and group meetings.

• Directing, motivating, training, coaching, and disciplining staff in a positive manner.

• Reading and analyzing reports and financial data, including related computer usage.

• Responding on an on-call basis to emergencies and incidents at all hours.

Our SOC Operator positions are highly sought after. If you have experience in roles like Call Center Representative, Dispatch or Camera Monitoring this is a great fit for you. Applicants with Security Operations/Dispatch experience will be considered for a starting rate proportionate to their experience up to $25.00 per hour.
